Refer Youth to AG

It is difficult to determine how many children impacted by incarceration live on the Cape and South Shore. No sources are available. Still, we can extrapolate from known statistics. Nationwide, 2.2 million men and women are incarcerated in state and federal prisons, 50% of whom are parents with approximately 1.7 million minor children.

Massachusetts state prisons house more than 12,000 inmates. There are over 3,300 inmates housed on the south shore in County Houses of Corrections and Jails (Barnstable, Bristol, and Plymouth, and Duke Counties).  This means there are likely over 1,650 children that Amazing Grace could serve. The majority of these children are invisible.  They fear the stigma of a family member's incarceration.  We need you to help us protect their privacy and know Amazing Grace exists to provide opportunities they can share with peers who share a common experience and mentors who care.
